This map of 23-June-2004 covers from 10:25z to 14:30z. What a experience!. MUF was up and down almost all day, most of the time over 100 MHz and reaching 144 MHz in many ocassions from 10:25 till 18:12. There were multiple clouds along the day. First was over TA at about 10:30 allowing a few QSO between Russia and Israel. A few minutes later a new cloud reached 144 MHz over the southern French mediterranean coast. At 11:40 a new cloud formed over the Pyrenees, at 14:19 another one over central Italy, at 15:00 another one over Switzerland and finally another one over NE Romania at 17:30. The most outstanding of the day was EA3DXU being heard by RN6BN at 2914 km! thanks to a double hop produced by two different clouds active at that time, as you can see on the map. The map was so large that I have had to cut it into two parts. You can also look at the other map covering from 14:30 to 18:12z

This map shows the evolution, size and MUF of the sporadic-E cloud that caused the opening on 144 MHz. and it is an estimation based on the information I have picked up here and there of QSO and reports of European stations. I don't claim it to be accurate but just an estimation that could help understand what happened that day.
Also please notice that sometimes you will see MUF rise very quickly. This is because of the almost complete lack of data for frequencies between 51 and 144 MHz. that leads to shown MUF rising almost 90 MHz in one minute. You should understand that this is not the usual behaviour of MUF, but the result of that lack of data.

You can help develop these maps!. After the openings, please send me your logs of 50, 70 and 144 MHz QSO via sporadic-E (Much preferably in ADIF format)
